24 Janvier 2006, L’action se passe au musée du Louvre. L’actrice Ronit Elkabetz incarne de manière allégorique Jérusalem. La caméra la suit alors qu’elle déambule à travers le département du Levant. Elle est vêtue de noir et porte un drapeau de la même couleur. Jérusalem – reine et divinité – est en même temps cette femme exilée, appauvrie et fatiguée par les conflits des hommes qui se battent et colonisent son corps siècle après siècle. Elle erre dans le Louvre à la recherche d’objets bibliques laissés par les civilisations qui l’ont occupée physiquement et qui ont aujourd’hui disparu. Mais elle ne trouve aucun signe d’elle, de son corps dans cette errance. Jérusalem se retrouve au carrefour de deux galeries où différents symboles de l’occident sont réunis. Elle est alors victime de violences infligées par une étrange silhouette noire. Un roi accompagné de son serviteur lui apporte une tenue d’apparat : Jérusalem quitte alors sa condition d’exil.

Les scènes filmées au Louvre ont été réalisées comme des performances au moment du tournage. La trame narrative est née de ces différentes performances filmées en 16 mm. La réappropriation du genre muet génère ici une dimension métaphysique : elle agit comme une coupure avec le temps présent.

Ce court-métrage, conçu à partir des rushs du film Zion, a été réalisé dans le département du Levant et dans les galeries de peintures françaises et italiennes.

Subject of the film:

January 24th 2006, The action takes place in the Louvre Museum. Ronit Elkabetz, the actress, appears as the allegorical embodiement of Jerusalem. The camera follows her as she is walking in the Department of the Levant. She is clad in black and carries a flag of the same color. Jerusalem – both queen and godess – is at the same time this woman in exile, empoverished and exhausted by the wars of men who have been fighting and colonizing her body for centuries. She wanders in the Louvre Museum in search for biblical objects left by the civilisations who physically occupied her and who disappeared now. But she cannot find any sign of herself, of her body throughout this wandering. Jerusalem finds herself at the crossing of two galleries where different symbols of the West are gathered. She is victim of violent acts performed by a strange dark shape. A king with his servant brings her a magnificent dress: now Jerusalem leaves off her exile plight.

The scenes shot in the Louvre were conceived as performances during the shooting. The narrative stemmed from those different performances in 16mm. The reappropriation of the silent film genre generates a metaphysical dimension here: this acts as a break with the present time.

This short-filmis based on the rushes of the film Zion. It was shot in the section of the Levant and in the French and Italian galleries of paintings.
